Experts You Can Trust

GVPT's experienced staff offers a wide range of rehabilitative services with emphasis on outpatient orthopedics, sports and industrial injuries.

Depending on the type of injury, most rehabilitation programs are exercise-based, integrating a biomechanical analysis of the structures involved and principles of tissue healing.

We also provide all inpatient care at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and Greenbrier Manor. In addition, athletic training services are also provided to Greenbrier East High School, Eastern Greenbrier Middle School, James Monroe High School, and Pocahontas County High School.

Lower Extremity Biomechanical Analysis

Many lower extremity overuse injuries and even chronic back pain can be caused or exacerbated by lower extremity biomechanical abnormalities. Through a specialized examination and gait analysis, the staff at GVPT can identify and treat these abnormalities through the use of flexibility and strengthening exercises, orthotics management, and footwear advice.

Sports Medicine

GVPT brings extensive experience in sports medicine and athletic training. Whether treating the competitive athlete, recreational athlete, or industrial "athlete," we are committed to returning our patients to their optimal level of performance quickly and safely. GVPT provides free consultation to area school system athletes. Custom bracing is also available.

Spine Care

The GVPT staff emphasizes early intervention and patient education to address traumatic, work-related and postural spinal injuries. Our goal is two-fold:

  1. Alleviate symptoms
  2. Correct the cause of the symptoms; i.e., tightness, weakness, etc., to reduce the risk of future re-injury, chronic pain development or functional limitations.

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic physical therapy is a powerful medium to increase range of motion and strength, while decreasing weight-bearing and stress to joints. Utilizing 92-94 degree water temperature to increase circulation while reducing pain and muscle spasm, aquatic physical therapy allows earlier mobility, thus promoting a more rapid recovery.

Industrial Programs

Supervised work-conditioning programs, with emphasis on functional and job-specific re-conditioning and strengthening are available to assist patients to safely return to their jobs. Functional Capacity Evaluations are also available. In addition, on-site ergonomics evaluations and injury prevention education programs are available to are businesses.
